Well after a cracking session I Posted from the set of data that I was most happy with, PB 2sec 40.6!! 5by10 was 1 knot slower than other device and other results were very close. Trusted the data after using KA72 as I usually do, turns out real speed says 38.88 2 sec.. After a phone call from a team mate who diligently checked my result ended up editing post and using the device that showed result KA72 and real speed agreed on except for alpha.
Recently I had a light wind session that picked up nicely and thought I had a nice alpha 1 device worn as I was not expecting good results , watch said 18 and real speed said 21...
I have since started cross checking previous results in my files (have kept them all), there are so many differences (most in my favour) it is mind boggling!!
Just goes to show they are just numbers...I don't want to spend anymore time on posting than I currently do as I have many other priorities!!
I know there are many options to process results but is it the device, KA72 or climate change!!
I like KA72 as I can track my progress against other sailors (not competitive at all)
What would you do?
Unfortunately at the moment we have very poor satellite coverage on the east coast during mid afternoon. I see that you are only getting data from 5 or 6 satellites. Your Doppler error numbers are very high.
Not much you can do except use multiple devices ideally mounted on your shoulder or head. Best option is to use a 'Motion' which can access the Glonass Satellites.
Cheers, device with errors was on shoulder...broken band GW60. Device on wrist is on KA72 Post above was more out of frustration as it was quite embarrassing posting a PB that was not real
Hi Mr Keen,
I think I can explain the 38.88.
Easy mistake to make. I have confused myself with that one at first glance a few times. You were looking ar the Distance column.
GPS-Results gets the same 2 sec result, as does GPS-SpeedReader.
The last version of RealSpeed, (V2.001) is, unfortunately, unreliable for Alphas using 5Hz files. GPS-SpeedReader is free to use and is excellent.
Yep, I love speed reader, direct post to GPSTC and googleearth overlay with all the divisions in different colours, (except hours).
There's a few things it doesn't do, like find alphas that are too wide. But it's very fast, much faster than any other program.
