So what about the other way round? I need to buy a new 430 but my 6.7 Hornet is 2013. Will new mast work with old sail?

Apparently they should . But maybe not . The new NP masts are expensive , giving even North a run for their money . Bottom range 65% , $600 , mid 95 % , $1000 don't ask 100 %
A good second hand indestructible X6 are a great mast for a couple hundred bucks and will work great on your sail.

Should work on your sail .
I would definitely test rig before buying and check the cam flip . Also rig using the crease method and see if the luff is over tight or loose at the front of the mast around boom cutout . This will show if the curve is close . Its expensive if u get it wrong , trust me , i know !

I bought one of those today and got the same discount, only problem is if the invoice is correct they've sent me a 490 instead of a 430. Maybe I'll get extra discount for that stuff up.

Yep SPX95. I usually email when I buy stuff but phoned today and they've stuffed up the size. Is that a 4 week month or a 5 week month

It's not so bad , I'm getting quite good leaning forward and manually popping the cams after each Jybe . I might even miss it

I have to say I'm happy about that and I thank NP for doing this. I have faith again

My new SPX95 SDM 430 mast arrived today. Nice bag too! Bought it from Sunshine Coast Board Sports. Great friendly crew, good service, always give me good prices.

Its funny, I bought my 6.7 Hornet second hand and have used it with an old NP 100% 430 mast I got from a guy who went to kites a while back.
The sail has never really set that well, it was ok but has never rotated nicely and I ended up concluding it was a dud and have just put up with it. But after seeing iMax's above dilemma I thought it was time to buy a new mast and see if it transforms the sail. I'll report back after I get to take it for a spin.

Im using FX100 & FLX100 masts with my 2017 Hellcats & 2016 Hornets. No problems and they are cheaper than the SPX masts. Warning tho, the FX100s are really slippery tp drop with wet hands when taking them out of the sails or no issues,

Couldn't see any FX and FLX available when I was looking but got a good deal on the SPX.

I would have thought your mate would have converted you to NCX's by now

Nah. I will always try to be slightly different. I'd love to try summer boards and look at SailLoft sails but they are rare in au.
But really happy with NP Hornets. Some v8s next month.

Sailed my V8 , 8.2 with a new SPX 95 . Wow what a difference . Fantastic solid rotation every time , snapped in while flipping the sail even before applying any major power . Beautiful

that was SIMMER boards.
Picked up an RSX convert 7.0. I will have to use it a bit to work out whether i like it.
I do like the V8s and cant wait to get the 7.7 on the water. Hopefully it works with my mast, the RSX did.

Not that it seems to be a performance issue , and I love the sail , but it does give me the shi.ts , that the cams don't completly snap around all the way immediately . They kind of hang there 95 % of the way. Sometimes they pop a few seconds into the run and sometimes not at all. If I'm blasting along and push a back off I can get them to pop but that's a bit ****,ty . I can't tell the difference in performance if they have poped or not. I have four different sizes and there all the same. All proper masts . From mild to wild downhaul doesn't seem to make any difference.
I love the simplicity of the new cams apposed to the over complex , fragile but smooth older version .
Am i alone , any advice.

I had the NP Hornets which are currently the V8's and I presently utilize full NP race sails. They all have a similar issue when pivoting, and one pump generally gets them completely round for me. I utilize 100% carbon race poles (NP) and I can feel it on the off chance that they're not completely around on the grounds that I don't quicken appropriately.

The hornets and the new V8 are very different in the cam design .
the hornets are like the H2.
I also have a quiver in EVO 6 and as you say a quick pump with a X6 mast and all is good .
The newer V8 has to have the new masts and then work perfectly , better than any cam I have ever used . I thought North cams were simple and clunked in with no fuss . The V8 clunks in mid rotation . But is totally crap on older masts .
I wonder how my EVO 6 s would work on the newer masts .?

Interesting thread. The lower cam of my 9.4 V8 isn't rotating all the way either. Though, I rig it on the recommended SPX95. Next time i rig it, I'll certainly apply a generous amount of Teflon paste, silicone, Vaseline, fish oil and spit. In the meantime I just manfully punch the cam in place after each jibe to let him know who's the boss.
...Should have bought an easy-Ezzy.

Im trailing a NP RSX Convertible 7.0 (3 cam) within my Hornets & V8s. It rotates ok on the FLX100 460 but not perfect. I don't have to push it but its not until just after the flip & most of the rotation occurs that it pops the final bit.
its fin for me now,

What's easy about an Ezzy?
Ok they have their strong points but I found it a PITA rigging a Lion after having NP's for years. NP much faster and simpler to rig.

I find theV8 awesome on the spx95 masts .
Do you rig the crease method or by the numbers .? Numbers can be all over the place . I had a Hellcat and it was 14 cm off.
Save your spit for other things .
When I rig I go at least halfway to two thirds . The cams pop earlier than any other cam sail I have used .
ps: I haven't yet tried a new spx on my 9.4 but work great on 6.2 , 7.2 , 8.2
waiting for a 520
