I don't want to be too picky, but hundreds of thousands of people got hooked on windsurfing long before there was any dedication to pure planing.

Only if you can get a good one. I find one key is to make sure that she has better gear than you do. Her Wally, Mistral and Laser dinghy are newer than mine; her aero road bike and her CX bike are both one level up from mine. Her other boat (Formula 18 racing cat) is more expensive than my other racing boat.
The other key is to make sure that she has another hobby that allows you to behave like a martyr. My wife is into dogs, and as long as I pretend that I only put up with them for her sake I get lots of brownie points, which translate into lots of goodies for me.

We omitted a few actually. Wally Mistral EQ2 obviously wouldn't fit on the lawn, wave boards and some old slalom boards. About 6 at last count back.

Pretty much like this. 2 on the ground. Sometimes there's a couple of rigged sails ready to go, simmer after work sessions.

And I still haven't seen even one sail hung from it's specifically designed offset bag handle.

I'm way past that. My shed has become overrun with daughter + spouses saddlery gear. Clearly poor strategic planning by me
