Hi, I really like the look of the NeilPryde Glide Wind foil to start foiling.
Anyone would have a 2nd hand one for sale ? Small size front wing. Thanks.
Cheers.

You are right, forgot to edit my profile, ACT it is.
Thanks Tonyk for the reply too. Just bought a newer board, looking for a bit cheaper foil...

Reg at Windsurfing Perth brings them in, so contact him as he may have a second hand one available.

tonyk, do you use a NP GlideWind foil with this board? This is the same board I was considering purchasing to use with my GlideWind 160 foil.
But I found two review sites that both said the GlideWind foil is more suited to narrower boards, and that the wide boards (they both tested with JP HydroFoils) tend to "overpower the short mast and narrow wing" of the GlideWind. Your thoughts on this would be appreciated.

That looks like a great board for the GlideWind. Let us know how it works out. I am looking to replace the JP XCite ride (with powerbox) that I am using with something more suited to foiling.

Hi Max
JP135/ NP glide wind combo works well for me, i am 79kgs
I have done more than 400km's on it now and it has been good to learn on
I mix up what sails I use depending on the wind strength
All the sails I use are all cambered, so far a mix of 6 up to 9m
I sail in the 8 to 15 knt range
today I am going run the 5.4 because it's going be 14-16knts

Get out there it's good fun

Thanks, that is the kind of info I am looking for.

Here is one of the reviews I mentioned earlier about the GlideWind and JP Hydrofoil combo...

Max
I just read that review you supplied the link for, i would agree with everything they say

Seabreeze has plenty of windsurfers only too willing to help with advise and tips so any question put them up

I did 45km's on the glide wind / JP135 again today in 15-18knts with NP RSflight 5.4m and it was real good, great control, super stable, so the glide works for me now from 8knts to 18knts

yes as bludga said a couple of weeks ago I purchased a NP glide large front glide wing to run on the 9.2m it helps carry the weight of the big sail in the 8-10knt strength, I still run the small rear tail with one washer to apply what is referred to on the NP web site as tilted up, seems to work ok

Hi tonyk I'm about your weight, around 74kg, looking to put it on a 125L RRD Fireride V2 with a Foil Box.
You said you bought the larger wing for the bigger sails used in low wind, what wing do you normally use, small or medium?
I'd be going to max 7.7 sail size though.

I tend to agree with LeeD,
i see the 125L RRD (71cm wide)
Hopefully someone with 71cm board can share their thoughts

My Naish is 73cm wide.
Widest WS board ever owned was 68.
155 lbs.
If I were going to windfoil, I would start with close to 91 wide so Ixd have the security and stability to sail in breezes of 1+ to get TO and FROM the wind line. Wind often drops, but sometimes the wind swells stay around and sometimes you get refraction chop. A wide board brings you home, but just as important, it allows you to go out in marginal conditions.
I see foilers on 91 cm boards foil in winds around 27 mph and have no problems with board size.
At those gusts, I'm fully powered with 4.5 and 85 liter ws boards.
I also see no gain in these 115 or smaller boards, because none of us a freestyling.

Tonyk can you please confirm that you are using the large 86 cm wide wing and not the medium. Are you using the longer fuselage (81 cm) or the shorter one. Has anyone tried the medium slim wing (80 cm) ? I have recently bought the small wing setup but feel a larger wing would be a good addition. Has anyone tried these different combos?

Since Tony hasn't called by yet, I can tell you that both he and I are using the Glide large front and rear wings with the 80 cm fuse.

As bludga said
We both use the large glide wing and large glide stablizer and 800L fuselage
I started with the small wings (i did about 400plus ks on the small wings) since using the large i now prefer that all day every day no matter what sail is rigged on my 850w jp135 board
I had been on the 700mast but after doing about 500ks of foiling since starting last week i moved to the 800 and like it very much
Cheers Tony

I understand these are fairly slow foils but have you been able to get a reasonable idea of top speeds for both the Small and Large?

It'll be interesting to see how to upcoming XL and Slim wings perform. The one video I saw said the Med Slim was faster but didn't carve as freely.

Seems speed of foils is really hard to figure out, unless it's racing foil vs carve foils.
Too many variables...
I've foiled with my bud on his NP Glide M for at least 30 of my 62 foiling days.
Still can't tell which foil is faster between foils. We each have fast or slow days, and good and bad days
Same with SS 76.

You don't use the Glide Wind to go fast, it's not about the speed with these wings
My numbers are
Glide Small Wing cruising at 14-16knts pushing hard core 19knts max
Glide Large Wing cruising at 12-14 pushing hard core 17knts max

NB- all my foiling sessions using name tonyK are logged on GPSTC (gold coast speed team) and KA72 (queenslanders), any session with top speed under 20knt is foiling , so if you look at some of those you will get a idea of what the typical speeds are for NP Glide
Most of my sessions are a distance of 40-60k's

Tony,

Thats exactly what I was looking for. Mainly how much top end was lost going from the small to large, which isn't much considering the bottom end seems to be a significant difference. I was mainly wondering if the small was worth having and personally 2kts doesn't make it that for me.

I'm currently on a Slingshot 76cm which I find doesn't slow down quite as much as I'd like to carve the tiny swells we have, but it's top end better than the older H2 although I rarely bother to try for speed. I'm looking to get away from Slingshot since I'm underwealmed by their quality control and engineering.

To add to Tony's post above, 17 knots max sounds slow, but it feels pretty good in 9 to 11 knots of wind like we had on monday.

yeah just go the large wings (Front is 86cm/ rear 51cm) if your board is a suitable width

My board is 85cmW and bludga's is about 100cmW

Both boards I'm considering are 66cm although one has a ~58cm tail and the other is a freestyle board. I thought the Glide wings were designed around narrower boards?

I think that would be the "standard" Glide Wind which is the small.
