Hi All
I know you can buy a commercial version but who has some good ideas for a home made nose protector for when you are learning to foil?
Thanks
Steve

nah dont do the pool noodle. you end up cracking the nose but you cant see it and then your board sucks in water.

Make up a slip on fiberglass and kevlar unit that attaches with silicone.

You gotta use packing tape or similar as a release layer, then layup on the the packing tape. Pop off the glass piece, trim it up, paint it then use a thin bead of silicone to glue on to the board. I'm sure I've seen one Decrepit made years ago somewhere.

I have gone the full monty
Deviator mast base helps, but only protects centre of nose - add nose protector eg SB, JP, I used silicone so easy to remove - then Clark Rubber do a $30 black tubing, have this running along mast from boom to base, easy to attach using velcro strips from sewing stores etc
sounds like overkill, but early crashes are NASTY! especially as I started on faster foil the SB GT
after 12+ sessions I seem to be past the worst, but will keep the mast tube ... no downside and saves big $$ and downtime from spills

This must be the worst home made foiling nose protector of all times:
o.k.: effortless hands-on application, easily removed
but not built to last, lots of added swing weight and what an eye-sore!!!!

Don't try this at home!

Grab a jacknobber. Recommend them during the learning phase.

Nothing wrong with the life jacket taped to the nose

used it it plenty of times - saved many a nose as I'm getting use to a different board

Wow berowne, I have the same board minus the missing nose section. Didn't know it was possible to do that to a board! Is that thing still usable and water tight

I use this placed under the boom.
Don't know how well it actually works but no nose damage through one summer of foiling. It's mostly there as a sense of security I thin. But the best nose petector has to be not letting anything hit the nose
it's basically two mast foot protectors sewn together.
