Had a dolphin play with me on the foil yesterday. Swam under my board for about 1km. Must have been fascinated by the foil. Never made contact, which was amazing it was so close to the foil.
Yeah we went foiling in Saturday and one of our group had a shark swim underneath her board, checking out the foil. It was unnnerving to say the least..
Not so impressive as sharks or dolphins but here I've been surrounded by hundred of flying fishes while foiling.
I've been windsurfing in this area (South West of Mediterranean sea) for 30 years and never saw any.
I think the "silence" of the foil wing confuse them with a tuna fish and they fly out trying to escape.
Nice.
nice until you cop one in the head !
couple of months ago had a pod of small dolphins jump around me for a couple of minutes, surreal ! (though scary)
Was still extatic about it on my way back to shore when I ran into a dugong.... not so funny !!!
I hid a seal or small dolphin 2 years ago (in Denmark)
Guessing it wasn't a dolphin, they're too professional to make contact.....
Where was that Matt?
Down in Rockingham near the wheat silos Kenny. We rigged at the beach where there is a submarine conning tower and a set of guns from a WW2 destroyer set on concrete stands on the grass there. It was great fun but if sharks are following us I'm not so keen to go back.

I've seen lots of dolphins up close in recent years. They all have lots of scars down their backs. Some you can see they have a series of propellor slices in a row.
I think they scratch their backs on the hulls of boats while they're fanging along and sometimes get it wrong.
Dolphins might be very intelligent, but in human terms they're probably as smart as the average surf grommet. They live a similar lifestyle. Surfing, Eating. Rooting. I wonder if dolphins get stoned?
