It's not just Byron. Visit Long Reef or Collaroy on a good day, Queenscliffe, Crescent, Arrawarra. It's all the same. When people start teaching their kids to be good humans again, instead of trying to make them best mates. When people stop believing they are more important that the other person. When people are prepared to give rather than take. When people stop trying to make their children grow up too fast, by saying they could stand on a board before their second birthday. Because for some reason that makes them a better parent. When people make their children wait for Christmas before getting a new board, or wetsuit or a bicycle. When people teach their children that disappointment and "no" are just part of life and growing up. When people realise that their child is not more special than the other child. That they should do what they ought to do, which is not necessarily what they want to do. The the surf will then be a better place.... perhaps even our society will be a better place.

"When" may be a long time coming.

Take the time to politely say something to those who do the wrong thing, otherwise you too are one of the silent good men who say nothing while evil prospers.....

Hows that for a rant?

Gumtree adds.

Boy do some folk tell a whole lot of BS.
On my regular visits I see people stating the RRP of boards which I've seen blown out by three to four hundred bucks.
Sure the experienced people would see this but what about the unexperienced punter.

I see people also stating how much they paid for the board well in-fact they didn't buy it new and didn't pay the money they say they did.

NBN

Getting it connected at work its a nightmare,I've had a million phone calls at least eight appointments, calls from people who say they are Telstra make a appointment wearing Telstra logo and also on the business card when infact they are Telstra partners not Telstra.

Telstra connected us from a office when we were not connected to NBN,the outcome no internet for two days.
One of these knobs sold us a phone system 18 months ago, now we have found out its not compatible with NBN.

My mate's motorcycle workshop had the same problem.

Must change to NBN. Guy turns up, passwords all reset, works perfectly until the next morning. Call Telstra, they get it back on line again, works perfectly until the next morning. Same process again, a bit like ground hog day for three days straight. 3 hours each day for three hours is 9 hours of lost production, in mechanic's terms over $1,000 in labour. Not to mention the 10 or so roadworthies that he couldn't process on-line.

On the fourth day I said to him, "Give us a go". Turns out that the NBN Modem they had put in was all fine, except it's not compatible with the old ADSL line that was still connected to the building. The dead****es had neglected to give him the correct process.

1) Get the NBN router/modem in place ready, set it up for the new system which will be in place in two weeks.
2) Leave the ADSL modem attached and run that until the new system is in place.
3) When the NBN system is connected to the building, change the ADSL Modem for the NBN Modem and all will be rosy.

SO - I connected the ADSL modem back up and it all worked perfectly until they connected the NBN, at which time we switched modems over to the NBN modem and it all worked perfectly. As it feckin' should.

When we asked whether Telstra would chip in for the lost money, the foreign voice on the phone gave us a big story about how that wasn't their responsibility, but we could take it up with another department, or the Ombudsman...... Grrrrrr.

Trying not to be overly negative on the NBN thing, but....
I have 3 locations I work, needing internet at all.
Home, second most important.
Office, most important.
Holiday house, doesn't really matter, I'm meant to be on holidays.
Guess which one gets the NBN first?
Holiday house.
You need to be there (making up a date) May 21st for first install.
I travel down there, 2 hours from home, night before, install 8.00 to 12 the next day.
Walk the dog pre 8.00, skip surf or paddle, wait.
No one shows, give up at 2.00, drive back to work.
2 days later get a message that "unforeseen workload" or something stopped them turning up.
No problem, no stress, don't need it, let them sort.
They rescheduled for a month later maybe.
No problem, but then it was the day of my melanoma surgery.
Emailed, "Sorry, can't be there"
Reply- "No problem, all work is off site, you don't need to be"
So why the first thing?
3 months later we have NBN I don't need, in a location I don't need it.
And the internet we had before worked just fine.
BUt NBN is $80 per month cheaper for some reason.
And we are a Telstra Business Customer, so get preferential treatment.........

That's right Mac no excuses to behave like that.

Another pathetic behaviour was Serena Williams ,she threw every toy out of her cott
No surprise as she's done it before when losing.

If your phone system has PSTN lines the Telstra NBN router can spit out PSTN lines. If it has ISDN lines, a One Access box can spit out ISDN. You don't need to go native SIP, there are options that don't involve the outlay of a new phone system. A commander from the '90s is NBN compatible!
