Nice little unexpected one at Beaui.

First outing for the lightly renovated F18.
Also tried out my on board wash down system.

I'm not organised enough to do the rinse kit approach, but wanted to simplify the washing bit with boards on the roof at work after the morning paddle.
12 volt water pump and click fittings on the hose thing.
Had a couple of false starts with camp showers that did not deliver any pressure, but this seems to have enough pressure if not a lot of water volume.
Reckon my tank will last at least a week....
Had done a previous test on the OC1 and paddle, but this was the first real use "in anger"

Drove out to Long Beach this morning.....looked messy......no one in the water. Caught one decent wave and then the paddle back out did me in. Drove down the North Chesterman and only a class on the inside, very choppy and discovered on the paddle out I had a broken fin.....go in? ....no way! Caught a few waves and then when packing up a young kiwi guy said he had enjoyed watching me and thought I had some good rides. Sharing the stoke....so important.

Interesting fins! So it broke but did not fall off! I just looked at their site - so the rubber edge is there so you don't slice people if you run over them? surfcohawaii.com/stand-up-paddle-sup-fins/

Nice of the kiwi to comment on your ride!

Yes.

I use them on the board I lend to my daughters when they come visit. They like to SUP, but are not expert, and a fin cut can be devastating...

The rubberized FCS blue "slater" models were also very nice.

Thanks CSE,

yes I have Protec fins on two of my boards. Switched after a nasty fin slash a couple of years ago. I really don't find much decrease in performance. I am going to try a epoxy on the fin before replacing.

Cheers

Yay for longer days!! Finally light enough to get a quick paddle in after work. And a real treat to have a clear moonrise as I finished up!

North from Half Moon Bay

Latest fine tune of the wash down system is some mini board stands...

and a stretchy cover to keep things clean.

Couldn't get to the ocean yesterday, so took the Speeed for some fresh-water therapy at Enoggera Reservoir near Brisbane. Peaceful & serene spot - no power boats, just swimmers & paddle craft, and an aubundance of nature. Quite enjoyed it actually! Still would've preferred some salt water & waves, but it did the job in a pinch....
