Been thinking of another board ..i really like the flow , my 8,7 flow with my now full wetsuit ..feels a little sinky ..i do ride my 125 LITRE 8,7 placid most days but love the flow speed ..always thought a 125 litre flow would be good to have .but maybe with a round pin ? .a few emails ..exchange with sunova ...and was happy and surprised to get the info of a new Casey,no.2 is born ...looks sweet ...

I'm hoping casey ( Jimmy ) will see this and post a few action shots ..?

Anyway ..I'm getting one ..if you buy through surffx ,tis a good time to order one .I believe August ,is their next container ..

i will try get a size chart off them .

the 8,8 is 31 wide ,126 litres .perfect for me .

tail ...different rails ...(stepped ) sizes ...widths ..you could say everything ...rocker line and shape looks similar...

basically Bert designed the flow to handle most conditions ...i had a 130 litre 8,10 ,i didn't like the tail on it ,,

the 8,7 is a totally different board ,i kept that one ..just wish it was a little bigger for me ..as it is a handful in chop with my weight .and skill level .

some big boards there ,catering for the big boys too ...I think Casey has pimped this flow out to be high performer ..

Those dims look interesting, Does it have more tail rocker and thinner tail than the old one?

The 8'0 looks like a fun shape. Must be quite stepped rails to still have sub 100l at 8'0. My 8'0 flash had surfboard-thin rails, was only 27.5" wide and a more narrow tail but was only 93l

Hi Benji ...rocker looks the same ...but yes i have noticed width has increased ...good ..after having ridden the placid for a while now
I'm not scared of wider boards now ,as the new rails have improved the boards performance ,not like the boxy rail of the past ..

Also mostly single concave running the length which according to Marcus makes it super quick. The rails are super thin, like the Placid so should be able to take some late drop and lay into the turn ?? I hope

So have they launched these yet? I can't find anything on the net about them. All sounds like good changes!

Isn't it similar to the Flash though???

Those dims seem a bit different to what was listed above?
the 8'0 for instance is more narrow but 4l higher?

The dimensions Tardy posted are correct, the ones on the Casey website were preemptive. The board is a 2021 model but some stores will be receiving stock in as little as 4 weeks. The updated information will be available on the Sunova website in a couple of days!

I'm sure Salty Palms in Newcastle will be receiving all of the Casey models in a few weeks time, plus they have a preorder deal on another shipment due in early July ??

Thanks Junior Berger. You guys must have changed it quite a bit from Casey's first dims to you nearly add an inch of width but loose 4l on volume in the 8'0?

how do the concaves differ to the flash? I had the 8'0 flash

Having owned flash and flow ,the flow has always been my fastest board ,what does let it down sometimes is the rails are quite boxie
and you have to be on the tail all the time ,but no big deal ,i'm excited that the rails have been narrowed down like the flash ,I reckon its going to be a great shape,
I didn't like the red , so I'm going black

What size are you going and tr3 or the xxx?

I wonder how the stability goes comparing to the old flow.

ha ha ...your gonna love it .its black and white ..filth flow .

Nug ,I'm going tr3 ,slightly cheaper ..and i have no problem with the placid in tr3 ..and also the 9,11 insane ,
I'm going 8,8. 31 wide 126.3 litres ,so its going to be more stable than my 8,7 ,30.25 wide 120 litre flow ..
even though i will never sell it ,such a good
board in clean 3-4 foot waves .it just pisses me off in chop .due to my weight .it was rated for a 85 kg dude ,but as you get
better at riding we ride smaller of course .plus I'm no spring chicken .and hate getting wet ,

the trend seems to be shorter wider and more volume ,I reckon it makes them easier to use ..
don't forget the new thinned out rails .thats the key ..wonder what a speed would be like with rounded rails . NEXT . lol.

Couple points I'd like to make,

1) I hate seeing these posts as it makes me want one!
2) sunova never seem to do the size I want a 8'5x30 flow 2 with around 118l would be bloody perfect.

3) makes me want a 8'7 flow again.

Message Dylan - Sunova will do whatever size you want.

What's the eta? I can't wait to hear the stability. thin rails drops the stability a heap! But help on a steeper wave. Will be really interesting to hear how it is.

the 8'0 sounds like a hoot for me.

what are the bottom concaves?

ETA august (QLD) surffx .but thats cool ,I need that time to save $
,One single concave .....so should be fast ..yes i agree benji ,rounded rails ,you do loose a little stability ...but being 31 wide ,should be sweet .
I quite like the rounded pins ,they seem to carry their speed through the turns ..

agree with nozza nugdam ,if you really know what dims you want ,go custom man .and I'm glad you hate this thread ..

I'm just lucky they make a size that suits me ..bloody wetsuit this time a year ..sure does add weight ,the placid sunk more than normal yesterday .

how much does a wet steamer wetsuit weigh ,anyone weighed one before ?

Just tough picking a size not knowing the stability and how it will actually go for me. Hate to order a custom and make the wrong choice!

So the stepped rails are slightly less stable then?

In general, the lower the rail the less stability it will have (as the rails dip under water and are more subject to movement and buoyancy).

volume distribution is also key though.
ive also found that single concave boards tend to be much more stable than boards with Vee or even double concave to an extent

My smik sits basically under water from the handle back. I always found rails sitting under water to be way more stable? They have quite thick rails though so maybe that stops it getting twitchy? As I ride my 8'5 x 30 in anything though they hold alot in the nose which helps.

Tell me about it ..picking a board ..geez ..yes a little bit more unstable ,they seem to roll over a bit more ,but you get a lot more looseness ..
the placid is 31.5 wide ,but its loose ..and doesn't grab in chop ,like my sharp railed boards ,doesn't feel as bitey on the wave face ,but you have the ability to turn at anytime ,where i find my 8,7 flow has a little more direction in turns and once you find your line ,its still good .the rails are sharper .and on a really clean face its good to have that too ..you can stay half way up the face of the wave easier ,where the rounded rails on the placid you can go anywhere ..I found walking up the nose a little bit will engage the rail a bit more if you are tube riding .
jumping from one board to another you have to surf them different ,
when i jump on the flow i have to cut across the wave a bit faster ,where the rounded rails i can drop straight down and not worry to much about the rail grabbing ,it just makes them easier to surf and you can get away with mistakes ,eg..late drops ,being too far up on the nose on a turn ,, the flash was the same ..quite rounded rails ,both amazed me what i was getting away with ..now i just push it to the limits .where you do notice it the most is your cut backs ..so much nicer with rounded rails .and you have the ability to change direction a lot quicker .

if your thinking of a custom ,maybe go to 30,25 .if your worried ,you won't notice it .

my 9,11 insane is 29 5/8 ,very rounded rails ..its unstable for me ,lucky it has the length ,which makes it easier to ride, .
i remember my 8,10 flow ,quite sharp rails ..one direction ....straight ..you had to wait for it to slow down before you could turn it
