Had my first run on the new HS1550 wing today. If you were thinking of upgrading from the CF1600 do it
Better in almost every way. Turns super well, links sections with ease and less of a handful on steeper takeoffs. Really could not fault it for wave riding. Not really into pumping so someone else would need to look into that. Did not seem to improve my crap efforts.

They are not high aspect. More a mid aspect which I think will be the best compromise.

Hilly I was looking at getting the 1200 wing for bigger days and better turning. I thought the 1200 is like the little brother of the 1550 with a similar shape. I suppose the decision between the two would be based on the conditions you mainly foil in. The 1550 would give that extra glide to link sections. What do you see are the main differences and would you now use the 1550 most of the time?
I understand that Armstrong are also working on new high aspect wings and new shorter fuselages so a lot happening in development right across the industry.

Great question I have few answers. love the 1200 but at 105kg on a sup I am too big for it but head + it is the go to and incredible surfing foil. Basically the 1550 is the the big boys 1200 so I am a pig in sh!t. If I was 80kg the 1200 would be the everyday foil.

Need a smaller stab is the only improvement I would offer.

Feckn awesome wingding foil had my best session today. Quick run out to the waves then gybing and riding toeside upwind on the swells. Exactly what I got a wing for. Stoked.

I've proned the 1550 twice so far. At only 65kg, this wing is my small wave prone foil. Lots of fun and allows me to pump really well. It handles steeper take offs great (better than the 1600 as Hilly notes). I rode like ** yesterday however. I blame it on all the wing-dinging i've been doing lately

I'm 84 kg and just ordered the 1200 @ 1550 for prone surfing thinking it will cover me for both smaller and larger surf.
Maybe do some winging later when the cash reserves improve and can afford sup & Wingding.

Thanks Hilly for your advice. I have just ordered the 1200 and are really look forward to using it especially after your feedback. I have been using the 1600 for a few months now so to have another option especially in bigger waves and for better turning will be great!

Thanks JEG for the advice but I think I will focus on using the 1200 for a few months and eventually replace the 1600 with the 1550. But who knows with Armstrong working on new high aspect wings and shorter fuselages there could be other options in a few months. I'm well covered for now and hope to see you out in the water with the 1200 on the weekend.

If you are active pumping the 1200 is a weapon in any waves. Enjoy, let us know how you go.

somebody said the other day prone foiling is like a Ferrari supercar and sup foiling is a truck and then I look at Derek Hamasaki as a sup foil freak

also, Armstrong is coming out with a Wing/Foil/SUP 5'5'' board is available for pre-order now, the lead time will take around 4 weeks.

I think Derek's sup is the length of a prone board.

Thanks Hilly but I will never get to start a 1200 thread if I have to reach that level. Fantastic video and I would love to be able to foil like that! Like you I'm on a SUP but do hope to get on a prone board sometime next year as well. I've been surfing since 11 and find foiling so much fun to the point of it being nearly addictive - haven't been back to my surfboard or SUP in 5 months. You are probably right about another thread for the 1200 wing but if it is a smaller version of the 1550 I thought I'd keep it on this! Can't wait to try it, provide a review and even get a video at some stage!
