I'd also sign a petition to change daylight savings in winter so we wake up 2 hours earlier over winter to get 2 hours of additional daylight after work. Isn't that the real daylight saving?
This needs to happen!!!!!!!
How is this going to help, there are no seabreezes in winter and northerlies die off late in the afternoon. If anything you'll have more of a chance squeezing a before work early morning session so better to go reverse daylight savings.
In the middle of winter is dark at 5:30pm so that will become 6:30pm now? that would help me on my bike ride home but I will be riding to work at 8am in the dark!
I'm loving this thread, since it's original posting I have been out 5 times over the last week... Keep it going...
Yup worst season in years.
It almost screwed us again this arvo but then the wind picked up at 7pm and I had a sweet little 45min sesh before it got to dark to see.
Monday is looking like a fantastic public holiday!
Might have to take Tuesday and Wednesday off as well

Yup. I even though it was short I came in with a massive smile on my face. All that people would have seen in the darkness were my eyes and big stoked smile. I think this was one of my favorite sessions this season. Probably because there hasn't been heaps of them and it was unexpected. Anyway I'm still thinking about it as I go to sleep at night.
Bring on the winter frontal systems I say.
Denser air, higher jumps and harder landings.
Sorts the real men from the boys Most of you lot are too scared to get a little cold water up your legs

Couldn't agree more, winter sessions are the best but for me I have to rely purely on weekends for these so kiting time is cut dramatically.
Not sure where you have all been kiting but my local Melbourne kite sessions this year have been solid. Chasing the wind when it is here and having a flexible quiver of kites and boards to suit.

You joined seabreeze in 2013, implying that's when you started kiting. You haven't been kiting "... for years ..." so how would you know?
We've been kiting almost every evening in 20 knot breezes, sometimes up to 25. We have had a few 30+ knot days. Where have you been kiting, or not kiting?

Started in early 2012 so have about 4 year I can refer to. In the last few years during summer (not this one) I've been able to kite probably 3 days a week after work (Monday to Friday) then plus weekends. I kite all over but my works not to far from Brighton and I live in St kilda west. In SE I've done sandridge a few times or just stay at st kilda as its 500m from home and deal with a bit of gust. Weekends I go to balnarring and rye if I'm down the peninsula or angelsea or fairhaven if down Lorne way dependent on where the wife wants to go.
I know I don't have a log of the last 20 years But in my 4 years kiting this is the worst season I've seen...in years.

+1 ... I suspect those that are whining merely got their priorities wrong and missed out.

second that, there were some nights I had to just pass as I was too buggered from 3 or 4 consecutive sessions.
Good to see a final surge in support for the implementation of daylight savings in winter! We managed to hit 40 blokes in for gag. The cows wont be happy about this! Does anybody know their local member of parliament that can get this across the line before it's too late?
