hi all,
I am going to Anglesea from today until Saturday and was just had a few questions about the kite boarding there.
What wind directions work best at Torquay, Anglesea etc and what forecasts are the best ones to look at?
Do we have any good kite boarding days coming up over the next week for this area?
Would greatly appreciate anyone's help!
South to East for Anglesea. I found south West was too up and down, probably because of the cliff and pt road night messing with the wind. Launch near the boat ramp near the river and watch the reef's especially if the tide is going out. Make sure you are right out away from the swimmers. If you are a beginner don't go here because it dangerous for you and the swimmers nearby.
good advise above. If you are at the beach and there is no wind but south channel is up the wind is always better closer to Ocean Grove.
the weather in Melbourne can change very quick. The forecast always gets it wrong with some exceptions.
cheers
If you're in Anglesea, just drive the 5 mins to Torquay.
Point Danger is where you will find crew kiting, if there is enough wind to kite.
Anything predominant Southerly seems to work.
Kiting here is like anywhere - look at a map and work out what direction would suit your ability to swim in if s#!t hits the fan.
Inside you will get clean protected water with the odd kicker, a few waves as you head around, and an absolute chop/mess fest on the ocean side.
Take your pick.
Careful with launch and land on the inside, as wind is sucking up and over headland, so a tad gusty in close. Seen a few geese defeathered in there!
Thanks fellas
I am an experienced kitie boarder and will take your tips on board
