Too many people doing the wrong thing and it has become a **** fight basically.

If the tide is low forget it, you have 10 to 15 people or more all fighting for the low areas in the kiddy pool.

The sand spit is now a no go zone but ppl still going there and doing what they want.

We have ppl launching and landing within 40 metres of the power lines and the foot path which is not allowed from what I understand and this is putting general beach goers in danger.

The restricted for boating zone next to the pier on the west side is constantly being breached . no one gives a **** about what's going on .

ppl see one person do the wrong thing then they think its ok for them to do the same. the council knows what's happening, the foreshore home owners are constantly complaining so are the bird watching groups complaining about breaches on the sand spit.

Its just a mess. in other forums I have tried to make people aware that if they continue to just flaunt the local laws the council get sick of it and close the shared zone. so I would prefer to kite some where else that is not a designated kiting zone but also is not used buy kiters either so in my mind is no bother to anyone but as for Altona yeah man I recon its days are going to be over before we know it so I'm just staying away from all the **** I don't wanna be apart of the reason it gets closed to kiters.

wow. just wow. its been a long time since i went there, back in 2008 before i started kiting i used to check out the locals there on windy days. seemed super low key, only a few kiters just enjoying the wind.

sounds like a **** fight now as you say.

mind you i suppose all good spots start out that way, a few good kiters then eventually the rest of the world shows up and ruins it for everybody. i bet perth used to be awesome 10 yrs back.

when i started kiting up in qld, sandgate was great. last time i kited there in 2012 it was starting to get too busy. god knows how bad it is now.

you made a good decision staying out and finding newer areas. the true pioneers were the ones that broke out from the crowd of plebs. best luck cheers.

Thanks for your awesome comments Springwater12345, I did at some point in 2016 manage to Parks Vic to come to my very quiet local spot with tip trucks and other heavy machinery to clean up the water that had old boats sunken and exposed and putting me at risk . just quietly hahaha I think the boats were the main reason other ppl kept away and now I have this awesome spot to my self but would be great to share it with another local Shhhhhhhhhhhh
