I will be spending the night of 2nd of July in a villa next to Colombo airport and travelling to Kalpitiya on the 3rd. If anyone happen to travel on the same date we can share the cost of transport (full price $US60).
Cheers,
Swavek
Mate take the bus, its mad, will only take 4/5 hours and is great fun hanging with the locals
careful of cuts on your feet etc there is a nasty bacteria in the sand up that way at the min. Lots people ending up in hospital!
wasnt my cupa tea but can see why people go
??
grab a tuk-tuk instead of buses mate. much better way to see the place with random stopovers at lil eateries and roadside vendors, with the air thru the hair. we took em for hours on end earlier this year, to/from kalpitya no probs, Im 6"3' lots of leg room in the indian/sri lankan tukkies for 2 ppl, vs the thai ones
if ur watching the wallet, u can get a train to Palavi (only a couple run each day), then tukkie it from there. tukkies work out roughly AU$20/hr.
