We will have a car and we would like to check out different spots around Tassie and if anyone of you locals have time, we?d be more than happy to catch up! Hi guys, I'm up on the north west coast of tassie, I normally fly either an 8m or 10m. IMO you may be better leaving the 6m and going with the 9m & 12m but I can't comment on the conditions on the east coast or down south. I hope you have a great trip though, let me know if your planning on heading to Stanley.

Thanks for your reply! We are packed now and decided to bring all 3 kites! I checked the wind and it looks pretty gusty ... is this normal for Tassie? We will start from Launceston and will then move to Hobart and will also check out Marrawah at some point and prob. also Stanley when the conditions are good. You can let us know when it looks good at Stanley .. not sure how often we will have internet to see it but will also get the Tassie prepaid card once we are there!

Hi, you won't go wrong if you've packed everything. Yeah it can be gusty, but its not normally as as gusty as kiting through the winter.
Sounds like a good holiday, there's plenty to do and see if your doing a lap of the Island. Internet shouldn't be a problem, probably get a Telstra or Boost prepaid card as they have the widest coverage in the state, theres plenty of wifi spots too.

Yep Stanley is the best for both westerly or easterly winds both being consistent speeds, due to the geography . Stanley and surrounding beaches are suitable at all tide heights. Friday I had my 10 up and today will again at Hellyer beach, on way to Stanley just past Rocky Cape National Park.

All Tassie sailors and kiters know and love Stanley!
