Tether board to your leg???

As a complete new person, I look at my 2nd hand board and see that it has provision for a tether (I presume to my leg). I get the sense that people don't use a tether and I was wondering why.

Seemed like a good idea to keep track of the board should I (inevitably) become separated from it. like the surf or boogy board simply pull it back in when i crash.

My advice is to learn to body drag back to your board, don't use a leash. Just Google it Bryan:

As an absolute beginner I promise it is not hard to body drag upwind and retrieve the board. Your teacher will sort you out.
