Hows current (September 2019) conditions @ Golden Beach for kitesurfing for beginners? Is it safe to go out and practice on my own? Or should still wait for a couple months for better/safer winds? Thanks.

Hi Sirli
The guide for SE Qld (link below). It has comments on Golden Beach - Essentially it is when the wind direction is good for the site and the state of the tide.. I have not been there fore 18 months but low tide you can go out and launch from the sand banks else by the scouts sheds. If it is on there will likely be a fair few there - so just ask for advice. A lot of action when it is on in the river mouth at Caloundra but it is not a beginner site and best with a mate or someone to keep an eye on you. Other sites for learning include Lake Weyba, and Maroochy river but not near the wave zone.
Realistically in SEQld on the east coast wind with any Westerly in it has limited options so InSkip has a zone for NW and Double Island Point has awesome potential. At the southern end of Bribie Island on the main land Sandy point g8 training site, works for a SW but no easy option for a Westerly. Anyway check out the guide and ask away..

Give us more information about how much experience you have it helps people reply. This time of year A wet suit helps 2 mm shortie is fine.
cheers

I was there yesterday and have kited there a bit over the years. Its tide dependent or affected by tidal flow, if the tide flow is opposing the wind you get an extra few knots of push from the water, but that can also make relaunch harder. Opposite conditions you also need good relaunch skills if you drop your kite.
Launching area at Golden Beach where the KA event was are a bit tight, but assisted launch would be no problem. There might be some wider strips of sand N or S of this area?
You need SE-S to NE winds and not much of that yet but the winds are coming back and within weeks it will be kiteable there regularly. If you are struggling with staying or riding upwind you need to be careful at this location due to the strong tides. There is also a lot of small boat traffic and you just need to stay well away from them. Never force right of way with boats/skis just turn and let them pass.

Keep an eye on the web cam there. Nice spot. Flat lagoon water around the inlet.
