Hey all, forgive an absolute beginner question from someone who's also new to the area. Does anyone have any favourite open spaces on the Gold Coast for flying a training kite - esp when the wind is low as recently? Eager to play with my shiny new (baby) kite I've found the beach gusty at best between long dead spells lately, and I wondered if I'm overlooking some obvious other kiting spots?

I used to fly my trainer on school ovals or paddocks, somewhere with no obstacles and not too many trees around (gusty)

The guy's at Surffx would be the best to ask. Kitethrills are at Currumundi if you're on the Sunshine Coast. Any open beaches with wind coming from the ocean is recommended. Stay away from inland places for your own safety as this is where winds are too inconsistent in direction and strength..end result is usually a injury.
