Hi there,

Cabrinha question here:

I recently bought a 2016 overdrive 1x (quickloop with recoil) and have tried using it with my 2013 vector 12m kite, but my kite acts really weirdly.

I see the compatibility chart that cabrinha have say they aren't actually compatible interestingly. Trying to understand why?

Is it cos of the V lines angle that the 2016 bar has? Kite seems really overpowered to me... but not sure if the v shape is messing with the arc shape of the cabrinha vector?

Any help from someone who knows would be awesome... really wanna avoid having to fork out anymore cash on another set of bars!

Thanks!!

I'd be surprised if the v split location would have that much influence.
Have you checked your line lengths ? (most kites fly best on all equall length lines).

Yeh line lengths are all good (peg in ground, then max power on trim strap and all at equal length / tension when pulled back on with bar against the stopper). Wondering if i should tighten up the front lines further though (or slacken rear lines a bit) for the new bar and old kite combination??

Yeah, I'd muck around with adjusting your lines - even try adding some pig tails if needed.

The lower v split will open the canopy more altering flying characterisics on some ids kites according to cabrinha.

Not sure but I believe Vector does not fly on four equal length lines. Your new bar has 4/ equal like most current kites. Big difference, check on that.

As above you should be able to use any 4 line bar on IDS kites, but the lower V could open the kite up more so more power. Also could be a case of bridle stretch which is rare, try connecting to the lowest knot on the rear lines to compensate. hate to say this but the vector was not the best kite IDS bar or not, everytime I flew one I was disappointed

Willdogz - How did it go? - Looking to attach the same to a Crossbow 3. I had converted the powerbar 2n1 to be 1:1 rather 2:1. The bar was fine and the lines are all the same length - cannot see why it won't work apart from the lower V on the center lines, about 10cm lower on the 2016 bar than the 2007 powerbar

I had a 2012 drifter (fairly similar to the vector) which from time to time I would fly on the missus overdrive bar.

It definitely flew different on the overdrive compared to the IDS bar, I always put it down to the low "V". Kite felt a lot more responsive with a low V.

Apologies for delay in closing this out. Sorted out length... bars were compatible, made sure line lengths were the same and then connected it up to middle knot on vector. All works good
