Hi all. Looking for advice. I'm a 69kg male. I kite few times year - not as much as I'd like. Mostly on tt in 15 to 25kts wind. At local surf beach in shallows and in sheltered bay. I want to update/ progress from my old Naish Cult 10.5m. I like Naish. I'm considering a 2016 or 2017 Naish Park. Second hand. What size most like my 10.5m Cult? 10 or 11m? Is a newer Park more powerful / efficient and could i drop to 9m?
Thanks
Carlos

Thanks cauncy. But the bank manager said no. Only 1 kite for you!

I'm leaning towards 9m. Since its smaller and lighter it should fly in light winds (15kts) albeit with some hard work. My 5 strut 10.5m Cult barely gets offground in light winds. Dreaming if its wet!

Anyone care to comment if I'll get up on a tt with 9m Park in 15kts? What if I use line extensions?

Hey Montoya, I'm only 62kgs and my 2 kite quiver in similar winds (different brands though) is a 9 & 12m. I don't think a 9m would suit as a single kite quiver, I'd probably go the 10 or 11 and suck it up on the lesser or windier days. Maybe 10m and have the extensions for lighter days.
Could go 9m or smaller on surf board but not TT.

If you can only get one kite, you might be better off with a 9/10m Naish Pivot instead of a Park. I have 2 Parks, and a Pivot of the same size would always fly better in the lower end of the range than the Parks, and their top end is just as good.

My 9m Park is no good at 15 knots, it doesn't want to fly and backstalls easily. The Parks are more freestyle oriented, where the Pivot seems to work well in a lot of areas. Even though I mostly do unhooked freestyle, I would probably pick the Pivot over the Park if I could go back.

I think you would struggle at 15knots on a 9m Park. Someone with a Pivot might be able to give you more info on them.

thanks all. i appreciate the perspectives. pivot was another option. totally diff kites i know. i planned to up the ante by going park over pivot.

jonesey - an interesting point. i assumed smaller kite (eg 9m Park) would fly better in lighter winds better than slightly larger kite of same make / model (e.g 10m Park). definitely surfboard on small kite in light winds.

you will be able to ride the nine from 15kts but you will find it hard to stay up wind, well it depends on your board size. i guess you'll probably get the same performance as the cult. you can always get a 12m later on.. or a foil. you'll probably find it easier on the new design of free ride kites like dash, bandit or enduro if your wallet stretches that far. can always pick up bargans in end of season sales..good luck
