After watching the freestyle nationals online it got me wondering how many Australian riders can do handle pass moves? 313? Backside 313?
I'm thinking it could be less than 20 aussies across the country?
To be honest as I've been exploring this aspect of our sport breaking down tricks with my son, picking the big brains of people like Sir Rowdy (and Sam Light when he was here) and the awesome freestyle crew at the pond (a special thanks to Emerson, he's a legend and inspires my boy) I've realised two things...
1. How technical it is and the importance of focussed execution.
2. I wish I was in my early 20's now ... ... I'd love to explore this craft.
.... But foiling will just have to do ...
So even if you don't and won't ride like this, it really is a fascinating aspect of our sport and worth understand and appreciating what these shredders are laying down.
Total respect imo.
A special shout out to Jason and Sonia from WA Surf / Westoz for all their continual support and encouragement . Absolute custodians of our sport down there.

Nah, we have have got a lot of talented riders who can pass. Who cares who can pass.... its all about the stoke. If you can pass and it floats your boat, then power to you. If you prefer to mow the lawn, do a simple back roll on a tt, hit the waves on a surfboard etc and you having a great time then who cares. I can handle pass and did so for years but in hindsight it was more about my ego that I could do those tricks cause unhooked was all the rage. However, I really enjoy riding strapless surfboards in my local 1ft slop and I have never enjoyed my kiting more than I do now.
