Hi all , im interested in hearing what you guys favour.

I like my v3 9m reo , 17 - 26knts strapless surf but im wondering what others think the sweet size is for different kites , like in andre c's reviews he favores the 7m nexus, im thinking of upgrading to the new reo, at some stage maybe 7&9 maybe 8&10, any insight into the reo's sweet sizes would be appreciated ,

On the flatwater my v3 zephyr is awsome for freestyle loop tricks and basic unhooking around 14- 18knts,
And my 11m park is great for jumping looping freestyle in 17 - 25 but im having trouble progressing unhooked with it and have just got a 13m razor to try and progress with passes

I have 6,8,10,12 m V5 and like all of them and use every size in Melbourne I do love 8 m in its wind rang You definitely must try a V4 or V5 big improvement to V3

10m rebel 2017 17 to 30 flat water or bump and jump in the ocean.

8,10, 12 Reo for foiling wave riding. 13 to 20-22. I Want a 6 ??... might sell the 12 actually... don't use it much.

Thanks eppo , yeah i think the 12 reo seems to suit heavier riders in a normal wind range, rather than a light weights light wind kite tho this is only my opinion and the purpose of this thread.
I saw a 6 reo in the forsale btw ..
im a bit sceptical on high wind foiling it is definitely something else

Sunny Coast like U.. Totally different to WA... weight 75pies mostly under - My reference is the wind when I start the session.
V. occasionally TT now, but for years I had a 10m and 13m a 136x38 moderate rocker..with a kid's 8m if required.
I have occasionally used my son's Airush Razors = C kite and always enjoy.. very versatile - waves to flat water.. easily cater to my talent
Favorite pass time kiting for some years = down-winder on surfboard = 6'
kites 4 surf
12m Reo V3 from yellow arrows to 18knots, 8M A/R Wave (2018 - hot kite - like power development) 16knots and up rarely go out in more than 28knots - no fun on surfboard and don't boost much - = Fact of life here on Sunny Coast (10m available but too much bar pressure to enjoy 10-15 km down-winder)
Bored not kiting in local off-season - so bought foil for light wind = most of winter and this year the weather has been weird around poor sea breeze development with high temperatures...= more foiling
Foiling... I currently am 'L' plates foiling. With this I have yet to work out what size I prefer 8-9-10-12 ...Bigger = kite higher better = for foot movement, smaller more speed control less likely to get too much power not the same as over powered...
Most the time to date the power difference between almost on foil to on foil is massive. (I have a 30 30 game plan the first 30 = count for times leaving the board.. the second is speed (kms)... after that I am a bit punch drunk.. it is the problem with a light winds and a shallow lake)
For light winds 6-8knots+ up to??? probably 15knots - I use a 9m cloud thankU DJdojo also 8M and 12M. I have not been game to foil in 20+knots yet..

I will upgrade 12m Reo but like the size for local surf conditions....
Cheers

Cheers AP , i guess you do alot of dw's in lighter southerly's with the 12 , im goofy ft and prefer the northerly's that tend to build..
I wont drive to the beach under 16 knts with the 9 and 5'7 whip..
Interesting you find the 10 A/R wave heavy bar, i havent tried one but the reos are great arnt they i often kite from sunshine to mudjimba its a good run..

I am 78 to 80kg Wind range to hard to say Every state /location is different Your style board size. Etc (downwinders where you use smalller kites) Up your way guys use small kite but use bigger volume/surface area boards For me I use smallest board possible and use the kite My boards 20 to 21 Lt You need to try the kite and you will no the sweet size for you

Yeah i had a vegas 9m shouldn't have sold it great for loops and punchy gusty conditions here on the flat water, i found it a bit quick for learning unhooking on tho , probably just needed more time

Yeah maybe just a new 9m would suffice, id hate to fork out for an 8 & 10 and then go ahh the 9 would've covered both.. considering most dw's for me are in the 15 -25knt range and it seems rare for it to be 30+

With wave kites i guess 7&8m are probably the sweetest sizes ,

Which kites are suited more to cross on, rather than cross off conditions ? Can anyone categorize a few?

Havent had many comments on the larger kites for unhooking, i find a constant need to trim before unhooking on the zephyr and the park and the truck like pull of the zephyr once unhooked difficult to atempt a pass or land blind .. i guess it wouldnt worry a more experienced rider that has some of these tricks dailed and has the muscle memory there allready..

Hoping for a good 1st session on the razor today

The 6 v5 is an awesome kite for foiling (and of course waves). I would sell the 12 too if I had too, it's my least used kite. But when the conditions call for it, I love having it around.

25+ knots (boost/megaloop) - 8m Union 4

18-25knots (Boost/megaloop) - 10m Razor

13-18knots (freeride/freestyle) - 13m&15m Razor

<15knots () - 14m Ultra

This is the best & most complete quiver I have ever run. Thankfully the razors 2015 to 19 are unchanged as well as having bulletproof construction & durability I'll probably ride them in to the ground. The Union & Ultra have been game changers for me and have really brought back the love & excitement in high & low winds.

6hrs on the 13m razor today, loved it.
15-20 knts perfect day to test it out.. unhooking was heaps better no need to constantly trim the kite,
It was faster than i imagined and hooked in loops have a good kick.
Landed blind most attempts, but im not landing downwind enough ( i think ) and loosing the bar.. only managed to ride away from a few..
Overall good day
