Heading to Smiths Lake (near Forster NSW) & noticed the SE winds on the weekend. Can anyone tell me if there's enough water in the lake to Kitesurf? From searching online, the lake seems to be at an all time low, since the council opened up the sandbar last year.

Family were there a few weeks ago and it was sand flats for a long long way. Very low.

Sw is the Ticket to kite smiths lake.

Off the beach when the lake is open isn't fishing, it's just catching.

Kite, fish or surf something is always pumping between treachery and smiths.

It will be good for kiting this weekend. The lake starts off shallow and then hits deeper water. There is a sailing club and good picnic area. Launching may be tricky as you start off in calm shallows that are protected by trees. If someone can walk your kite out on the flats for about 50 metre you should launch okay. Once out in the lake no problems, flat no swell and small chop. I have been there once because I prefer the surfside but this weekend may be a bit manic if swell picks up as forecast.
