Hi all,

I'm looking at heading to Mozambique ???? in July this year and wondering if anyone has been and knows wind conditions and opportunities? I've looked into Il Pirates and Diamonds as places to stay. Statistically the wind is marginal for me - I like 15 knots otherwise I go diving or SUPing!! Just trying to find out if it's a sea breeze that kicks in or trade winds only etc.

Any info gratefully received ??

Around September to Feb mate. Not super reliable though and often pretty light if it does come in.

I went to Tofo a bunch of times. Awesome diving in anycase. Fatimas nest is a good place to stay right on the beach.

Ponto d Oaro is another option, easier to get to, more crowded though.

Tofo and Ponta d'ouro are very nice spots and lots of nice places to stay.... good for diving too (go diving with the leopard sharks off Ponta d'ouro!) and surfing.
If you want some wind; Pemba (way up north) is the place to be... When I was there about 10 years ago there was 1 guy operating a lodge/ kite resort on the beach and according to him it was windy 9 months of the year, I was only there for a couple of weeks sometime around November and it was howling every day...

Yeah it is a pitty. But Carlo passed away about 2 years ago but his wife Susanne is still running the lodge , il- pirate in pemba . Wind is good 20knots constant from July to September southly trade winds and then turns northly in October.
