if its not on woo it didn't happen. woo is gospel for any big air kiter.
Yes and no, woo is pretty much the less worse option, I know a few guys using 2-3 woos on their board because they don't thrust the result from one (from jumps missed to height under/over estimated). Surfr is gaining in popularity but you have to take a phone with you and the case for the board is pretty hard to get.
I think if someone could get a reliable height measurement from a smartwatch (not just garmin though) that could become popular very quickly.
I can see it now from the woosters instead of jumping and throwing their feet over the head for the extra mm, it will be like a hitLer salute at the peak of the jump instead :) The platform of woo is epic for the banter I believe especially in WA (GODS COUNTRY) :)
I noticed that usually the woo miss a jump when I take off from a kicker, I'm assuming as the kicker make you go up then it can't differentiate between the kicker and the actual jump.
I think its worse based on the landings for me. Land too much heelside (crashing basically) and it seems to miss them. Get too gentle a landing and land flat and its the same. I think its another of the well known 'cheats' for extra height along with the deadman dangle - smash your feet down hard on the landing and you get bigger figures
Add a few rotations in there if you want to jump real big :)
I remember PIQ did something odd where they measured the time of landing based on the first big downwards pull on the board. So you would end up with crazy low jumps every time you pull a kiteloop as it decided that the loop was the landing and did the calculation from the time spent between take off and pulling that loop

Given garmin are one of the biggest smart watch sellers on earth, I think it's not a bad starting brand.

Given I have one I'm not gonna complain about it

I now have the beta app on my watch..... and there is no way to test it this weekend !
C'mon wind !

I'm about 12 hours flight time away ;)
Not all is lost, I've done more testing and will tighten up the calculations.... :)
Wow. Is this thread going to become like the Pansh thread on facebook, where we all have to find better and more accurate ways to measure our d*cks? Just asking.

Looks like surfr had the same idea as you
Looks good.... great for I watch wearers that are willing to kite with it.
Hopefully I get some testing with mine this Saturday !
Instead of spend time and money on those inaccurate garbage better enjoy your jumps! THERE IS NO CHEAP OR RELATIVE EXPENSIVE DEVICE THAT TRACKS ACCURATELY YOUR JUMPS OVER THE WATER. The biggest problem is they are relative low and short duration jumps. BUT, if you like to fool yourself just go and buy one of them!

Sure - but its the same technology used to launch rockets and there's not a lot of people who haven't used a GPS mapping device in the last year so there's got to be something in it.
Maybe you've hit a plateaux in your progression so its not fun for you but for me it adds a lot to the fun. Its like the difference between a golf driving range and golf simulator (the thing where you hit the ball into a wall and it calculates distance). Sure the simulator may not be accurate but it gets rid of the claimed heroics of the driving range because there's a number on the screen.
I think the problem if you haven't used them is that you assume that people focus on the outliers (the 12m jump from a session where 5m is the next best). In reality you have to ignore the outliers and just look at the average of the sent jumps to see how you are progressing.
I need to do a little more testing, and then write the rest of the app. Its only a shell at the moment.
