Yep. That's the dice you role in locations like that.
But what are ya gona do?
The best waves are usually in at rocky point breaks.... well they round here.

You don't want it to happen. But every now and then mother nature bitch slaps you and tells you whose boss!

Nice job getting down there to help. Possibly could have saved it!

There was no way we could quickly get down the cliff face we were perched on with camera gear etc to help.... it all happened within about 1 minute too as you can see.Sometimes you just gotta kick back and film the show

The kite actually got torn up and sunk.... so if anyone is good at freediving theres a kite and bar down there somewhere!

I'm going to put on my cynical hat and say: Righ...t. It's everyone else's job to drop what their doing and help you relaunch.

Don't think there was much to be camera man could have done, it was all over pretty quick and water swept rocks are not the place to trying rescue kites. Better to have lost a kite and not a kite and a life.

Nice that the other riders were keeping an eye on him....

The other rider is Daniel Bevan - he came seconds from being backwashed into the mess too!

Lucky he had the surfboard, no chance of swimming out of that one with the amount of current going through that channel. There is a couple of those spots on that run with some alluring nice waves but serious gotchas if you get it wrong.

Yes lucky indeed considering tommy didn't have a leg rope... perhaps a good argument as to why wear a leg rope when kiting off sticky rocky headlands?

Why kite so close to the rocks anyway? The closest rocks south of there are at Coolum 20kms away

Scary stuff. It does go to show that Mother Nature rules it all at the end of the day.
