Hey can anybody advise on this product? Comfort while jumping, general comfort while riding. Use a waist harness, and just wondering the big difference for a kiter that does a lot of jumping.
cheers

Yep, onto my fifth pair...

cant recommend them enough, very comfortable....the main difference between these and a waist harness is the lower position of the hook which obviously brings the bar a lot closer and they don't move upwards like a waist tends to which allows for longer sessions...

I have had the stitching on a strap for the spreader let go on me twice now which is no biggie, local kite repairer has sewn them back on with heavier thread for 10 bucks...

Buy them, use with hook included or put a dynabar slider on and boost away.
Very comfy dont ride up .
On rare occasions you might get a bit of wedgy when reallly powered up...but that's after a long boosting sesh.
You ll only get 12months of boosting out of them as the lower front straps have only one square of stitching...not 2, like the 3 strap stitching mounts above that.
The straps also wear through where they turn through the clip.

They have large plastic built in reinforcement at each side that does limit movement.
I just commisioned my 4th pair..i dont repair them when they start to go i just replace them .... its more of a peace of mind thing.
The rest of the shorts are looking pretty tired by then.

Work well with an impact vest with the lower hook position.

But all in all they do a great job.
I think ION B2 short may be a better build quality.

Hi Ste,

we have the ION B2 short harness. They are pretty popular. We have them in store to try on. Can't comment on the DaKine model, we haven't done DK for years. Just worth considering the ION also ??

Lots of people complain of the dakine ones desintigrating to quickly...I've owned the ION B2s and they lasted OK but could be better. Now using the Neil Pryde Tracker shorts harness and its build seems very good after one season. In any case I can't ever see me using a waist harness again-if you like to boost all day these (probably any seat) are the go, so much better than a waist in my opinion.

My last 2 pairs lasted more than 2 seasons each, the boardshort part seems to wear out before the harness part. I've used mine tbe DK swivel spreader bar which swivels up and down but not left and right. This helps alot in stopping the spreader from rotating up thus saving the cinching straps.

On my second pair in 5 seasons due to shredding the arse out on some reef, ultra lightweight never budge an inch, great for prolonged boosting sessions and high powered sessions, don't look like a seat when on
Faults
dont get your nuts on the wrong side of strap
limits some movement on toeside riding, a sliding spreader would sort that though and for waves, pretty sure the short version is basically the same

Love em, worn for last 10 years, great for jumping and good in waves, low bar lets you rotate hips in waves working well with kite low or drifting, also got a jaybar on a second pair. Did rip the shorts on rocks covered with razor sharp shells at Balian once but sewed up fine.

I have had a pair for three years with a dynabar attached. Never had a problem, in fact don't know there on. I do wash them after every kite so if I was picky I would say they might have faded a bit. Cannot speak highly enough of the dynabar, fantastic when riding toeside.

Are you ok jumping a lot with the rope, or do you use the metal slider?
cheers

The rope is fine for boosting.
I use the same combo
Nitrous and dynabar with rope now for around 4 yrs.

Takes 1-2hrs to get used to the rope. ..it then becomes a hugh advantage unlocking your hips.

I doubt ill ever go back to a fixed hook and you can do everything on the rope and more than a fixed hook.

Jay dynabar has a bungee if you unhook....so the hook stays in an upright postion ready to hook back in.

I replace the rope with every season ... if you boost heaps Its just good prevetative maintenance.

For the sake of a few $ of dyneema......
You have peace of mind.

I've fitted my own sliding rope and a shackle on the original bar. It works fine and I have 2 options...

I like the knife pocket so wan't keen to get the dynabar and lose that pocket.

If you do agressive jumping transitions it certainly takes some getting used to, as the Kite flicked through the power zone the slider would go rapidly from pulling from the middle to pulling from your hip getting you out of wack mid flight, fine for general jumping though and free up movement at the hips getting a better angle, id loan one off a mate as I passed mine to 4 locals, none chose to keep it

Love em! On my third pair with a dynabar and would never go back to either a waist harness or fixed hook. The shorts do wear a bit, but just stitch them up as required. I get a couple of seasons a pair. Add an extra dynema line below the normal one in case of a failure. I also hook my safety to the second one on a sliding ring.
