Christmas Themed Suits, Fireworks & Kite Loops in Cape Town!

South Africa; and Cape Town to be specific, are the breeding grounds of kiteboardings greatest. Ruben Lenten, Aaron Hadlow, Nick Jacobsen. They all call it home for at least part of the year, usually our summer, from October to March. That means it's a great winter getaway for those in the Northern hemisphere, but when there's this much fun to be had - even a few Aussies head West.

Keahi De Aboitiz is one of them, and where Keahi goes, fireworks usually follow. That man has a fascination with explosives that attracts him to beach bonfires like a pyromaniac to a lighter. So put Nick Jacobsen, James Boulding, Liam Whaley and Graham Howes on a beach in Cape Town together, and you know there's going to be some action both on, and off the water.

Cabrinha kiteboarding put their name to a trip there this year, to film a little vid called 'Cape Town Confidential'. Somehow, that involved four of them acquiring Christmas themed suits and going riding at Big Bay, forgetting a pump on a crucial early morning film shoot, and throwing a bar that floated for a loooooot longer than expected. Setting it apart from a lot of other kite movies however, is the social aspect of kiteboarding shown in this 30 minute short film.

Rarely will you see several kiteboarders riding in the same frame of a shot, yet throughout Cape Town Confidential these mates are sharing the same patch of water, spraying each other and getting up close and personal. There's synchronised kiteloops, freestyle tricks performed mere meters from other riders and a whole lot of fun and games between the guys with toys.

It's really different, like all of Anders Krugers kiteboarding movies, so grab a beer and sit back for 30 mins you'll really enjoy.
